Crazy Decemeber!~!~
Well, its been a crazy December for me and till now its seems like the first day of the month. I volunter myself in a no-pay feature film production. I could not believe that a production that involve zero money payment, still have so many people that would come and help out. Althought most of the them are inexperience but they are passionated of what they like- making film.
This production is shot in a 16mm film camera and this is the first time I see a film camera since i'm train in video. Its been a crazy whole month and why its crazy coz for the past month i have been working from 12hr and more a day and 6 days a week. Everyday is shoot and shoot, from one location to another. Time are long and to tell you the truth, most of the time are wasted in waiting for people:
First person that we always have to wait is the "art director" who is always late!~!~ and careless!~!~ Always forget to prepare this prop or that prop. Haiz!~! can't help. From how a person look and you can tell how the person work. He is the most sluppish guy i have ever since. When you first look at him, you will say wah!~!~ we got a artist on set. He has a tyical arty look- long hair, etc. But it turn out not true. The reason why he has long hair coz he dont see the justice to spend $8 to cut his hair. That's not the worse he can dont wash his hair for more than two days!~!~!! *faint* So sometime when you sat near him you will smell the "oil" smell. eeeeee~!~!~ At first, I thought I were over sensitive but when he told me this, I always faint.
And I can't help hating him also coz becoz of him, i sprain my ankle and till now its not full heal!!!! Argh!! Well its a tragic day for me and yanli aka our little princess on set, back to the incident. That art director (btw his name is Juhn han) as usual forget to prepare his props again. I remember everyone who was free on the set that day was trying to help him design his newsletter to get it print. It was also a sunday, many print houses were not open and to make it worst we have save it in microsoft publisher which most of them only print in jpg format, psd etc. That was not the worst, although we are luck that we found a print house that has microsoft but no microsoft publisher!~!~~! *bang wall* So we painfully make those document into a word document. But as always when you are in a hurry, every worst things can happen to you. For no reason, the printer could not print out the document!!!!! *faint faint* Suddenly, I remember while we are seraching for print house, I found a internet cafe nearby that print A4 colour. We pratically ran to that place, and it was then i trip and sprain my leg.... and GOD was not on my side... the shop claim that they just move in and the printer is not setup....*faint* And the Juhn Han saga continues everyday till the last day of the production!~!~
Second person inline is our director aka jolly or maybe the DP aka lolly. Till now, i could not figure out is the director fault or the DP fault that always slow. When the DP talk to me, he will say the director is slow, when the director talk to me, he will say the DP is slow. But I guess both each have their own fault. For some reason, the director always find location that restirct the creativity of the DP and most of the time the DP has to spend time reconstructing the location. For intance, the scene at the pub. It was suppose to be a night scene but we could only hav ethe location in the afternoon and to make it worst the pub has big glass panel!!! that require alot of black cloths to cover out the sun. But due to the low production, we were unable to get as many black cloths so the DP spend hours to set the place up, etc and in the end we only manage to catch one scene due to the lack of time. For me, such things can be avoided. Another instance, is the way the director like to director his actors. He refuse to tell the actors how much headroom/ the framing he has so that he can control his action from falling out of the frame. He felt that by doing so, it will restrict their action and behaviour. In addition, he refuse to tell the actors how they should feel, all he want is ask them to think of the objective of the script, what they want to achieve when they were conversating with each other. All these takes alot of time, and to amature actors, it is extremely hard for them. But, each directors have their weird way of working wonders, so it is really very hard for me to judge him also. ke ke.
Third person to wait is me!!~~! aka the van driver together with wesley. Both of us especially me always lost our way. It's been a fun driving experience for me, and to tell you the truth my manual driving have improve dramtically, all thanks to this production. And I have travel almost half of Singapore. Ke ke.
Now the intro of some of my crew:
Wesley our Assistance camera aka the sex manic and whinny: I could not recall how many time he has eaten my doufu and the girls. He always like to hug us aka the girls. And he simply dont understand what is a personal space especially to a girl. For one instance, me, he and lolly went swimming at jolly place. It was suppose to be a nice swim- after a long day of hard shooting, relax with a glass of red wine and some jazz music *shiok*. He has to ruin my swim by hugging me!~~ Argh!~!~ and even though my body indicate that I'm not comfortable with it by trying to push him away, he just won't move. Since then, althought I feel like going for a swim, I dare not say i want anymore. He is a also a super whinny who whin n whin everytime (for your info, all the guys on the set are all boys). At some time, it really get on my nerve that i have to tell him off. The problem with him is, he wants to be "Mr nice guy", he will "show off" what he has and offer to lent to people. But as you all know, it does not pay to be nice, coz people don't take care of other people stuff. So he lent us the wireless mic but it got spoilt!~!~ n he got super upset and keep whinning about it. Or if he don't feel like doing something, yet he will still do it and after doing it, he will whin about it. *DUH!* boys will always be boys.
Jolly the director: He is the queen of the set, can be say worst then a girl!~!~ I bet all the girls on the set are much more manly than him.
to be continue....
